Just bought a new King 5502m for my shop. I’ve ran it on HR 3-4 on auto. Seems to burn through pellets quick about 2 bags ever 24 hours. I have the air kit and my pipe is a T to 3’ to 90 then 1’ through wall. Wonder what I should have all the setting at to dial it in a little better. Using TSC pellets. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum
To help you out a little more info would help
How big of an area are you heating ?
Building type , construction , insulation is it tight
window and doors how warm do you want it and
what kind of weather temp do you have on average ?
Others will ask for more but the more we know
the better we can help.

Nick. The manual say your stove will burn 2-6 lbs per hr. If you’re running on level 4....that’s 5lbs/hr or 3 bags in 24 hrs. Seems like you’re right on.. 1 lb of pellets is roughly 8000btu/hr.

Thanks guys. It’s in my shop. Shops around 2400 sqft with about 18’ ceiling. I know the stove is good for 2200 sqft but not looking to get the place to 90 degrees would like it around 60-65 which the stove on kept it around 60-61. I’m going to install some fans to push the hot air back down. I’m in CT where the temps are all over the place. Was -10 the other day now it’s about 55 outside today. Just wanted to see what I should put the setting at to not burn through the pellets as fast or just leave it on auto? Thanks again for the help guys much appreciated.

Keep in mind when you see sq/ft heat ratings......these are for residential applications with 8’ ceilings......Based on that....you are effectively trying to heat twice that amount. Way more than that heater is designed to do. Large ceiling fans would help....but I think you are way undergunned. JMHO.

I know I’m behind the 8 ball on it. Putting the fans up this week. You think I’m better off leaving it on auto or would you have a suggestion what to put the settings at?

Not sure it makes a lot of difference. I run my 5500 on 2 or 3 heat setting in my shop. It’s only about 700sq/ft, 10’ ceiling..and pretty well insulated.

Does the heat range go from hr1-hr5 or hr1-hr9?

Doesn’t matter much just more hr’s give more variability to adjust the pounds per hour.

Factory default is 2pph on low and 6pph on high. You can tweek those settings to use less fuel on the lower settings but you will also be getting less heat.
